You only have to go nine months back, to find the beginning of project Carl & Gry.
This newly founded indie-pop-folk inspired duo met at a school for Musically Fundamentals in the city of Holstebro, also called MGK Holstebro, and was originally formed with the intentions to play more of a dinner-jazz type of music.
Nevertheless, it only took the two musicians one rehearsal to find out that they shared a common passion for writing original music themselves. Carl was in search of a wordsmith and Gry needed a composer. This way the project was started with Carl as the main composer and organizer of the instruments and Gry in charge of lyrics and melodies.
As they says ” Our main focus lies in writing profound however non-pretentious music, which comes straight from our Danish roots and hearts.” They see their music as a rebellion against all the artists who makes music for the sake of money, prestige and pretentiousness.
Unfortunately, not many songs have been uploaded online, but the first signs of life from the duo is more than durable.
They write music simply because there’s nothing better, more fulfilling or satisfying and because they have a natural urge to be creative which drives them. Their strengths are found in being down to earth, writing simple lyrics with topics people can relate to and with melodies which pleases – though challenges – the ear.
The sound is big, beautiful, embracing and i some kind of search of creating a massive universe of well organized and composed tunes which is achieved through loads of variations in the instruments and with well-considered effects.
Carl & Gry is planning to go into the study as soon as possible but until then they are going to be as active as possible on their fanpage on Facebook – PRESS HERE!
