The Teenesse-bred newcomer Isaiah Rashad will be dropping his first mixtape Cilvia late er December.
Isaiah Rashad is straight outta Chattanogga, Tennesee and the newest signee to rap game’s most dominating force currently: Top Dawg Entertainment. The west coast-based label is at their peak at the time being with the overwhelming success of their top-man “King” Kendrick Lamar whose album “good kid, m.A.A.d city” went platinum and cemented Lamar’s place as the King of Rap. The label also houses the talented and diverse rappers Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock who also are enjoying a huge amount of mainstream success. In short: TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) are the hottest right now and they aim to keep the vibe going with the signing of the young Tennessee spitter. Rashad was officially signed September 20, 2013 which was announced alongside with the release of his single and video “I Shot You Down” for his forthcoming mixtape Cilvia.
In the single “I Shot You Down” Rashad brings out some of that old school laid-back feel and spits some intelligent and intricate lines which displays glimpse of the potential Rashad undeniably possess. The admiration for Kendrick Lamar is somewhat clear when listening to Rashad. He too operates with a conscious theme rotating around his own struggles, hunger and goals.
Rashad describes the mixtape as a sort of a ride: “I just wanna take you on a ride. Imagine getting off work at 6 PM, and you don’t go home, you with your homies, and you get home at 6 AM, that’s what my project is.” – the concept seems to be a graphic narrative of Isaiah Rashads everyday habits and contradictions. A ride in the daily life of Rashad. A ride we surely will follow continuously while we wait in eager anticipation for Cilvia.
