What year is it? 2014 you might reply, but not in the world of this Australian pop princess. The story of Betty Who goes all the way back to 1991, when a girl was born down under in Sydney – I’m pretty sure her parents told her that she is from the eighties, but no matter what she’s managed to capture the feeling of the eighties meets the present like no other artist in the twenty-first century.
This is also the story of a young girl releasing her second EP Slow Dancing and reaching top spot on the iTunes Pop Chart in a really short time. Her music is catchy, you know catchy in the outrageously-crazy-about-it sort of way you just want to hear everywhere.
Musically she is a mix between Katy Perry and NONONO. Lyrics combining heartbreaking breakup moments with joyful summer times, combined you end a place inbetween called the same as the lead single – heartbreak dream.
The entire EP is a power demonstration of the different angles in modern pop music and she manages to capture and create her very own unique angle. Take a look at her video for lead single Heartbreak Dream below – hint: it features a charming girl performing on stage and taking some selfies.
We can’t wait to see where this just-released EP Slow Dancing will take Betty Who – maybe to Aarhus?
