Salty fries, bottled beers, and rainbow coloured skies. These are all things you can expect from Virgin Suicide’s new ‘2nd Wave’ video released two weeks ago – and hopefully also at (and after) their forthcoming show announced to take place on February 25 at Atlas in Aarhus.
With their sound inspired by Suede and the likes, the Danish guitar janglers, Virgin Suicide, have been struck by the Indian summer and let us catch a glimpse of their bromance-packed everyday life through their latest video to ‘2nd Wave’ from October.
Their use of crispy chorus guitars and bright easy sing-along vocals bring memories of a warm spring day back in nineteen-hundred-and-something. The new video, which premiered from the German music video blog tape.tv lets you forget about our shitty Danish weather for a minute. It dives deeper into their naïve universe filled with rainbow coloured skies, beers, salty fries, and some sweet bromance. After three minutes and seven seconds, reality will hit you like a slap from a wet towel when you realize it was all just a flash daydream.
By the way, especially watch out for the bathing-scene in the ‘2nd Wave’ video, and keep in mind: Virgin Suicide introduced homoerotic bathing scenes in one of their videos before the Manchester-based hype band The 1975 did it in their latest ‘Love Me’ video from October 28th – I guess our Danish indie-boys from Virgin Suicide inspired them.
Virgin Suicide have just arrived home after their first tour and though the album has only been out for about 6 months, they recently started producing a new maxi single at Grapehouse Studios in Copenhagen.
Recently their album released in Germany so Virgin Suicide have really set sails to conquer some land across our national borders. Let’s hope they are loading their guns throughout the winter and are ready to release some new summer sing-alongs as soon as the sun is back. Until then, we can all look forward to their next gig in Aarhus at Atlas on February 25 next year.
