An innocent and slightly magical moments pause, reminding me a bit of Twin Peaks. The music video to ”Into the Light” by STÅL maintains the pure simplicity of the song, whilst staying a bit retro.
The video is in black and white, with few shifts and angles and simple dancing instead of a major story. Some parts of the music video really remind me of some eighties music video, but I can´t remember which. With the lack of story, this music video is the opposite of many of the new music videos having a story line and an introduction of at least one minute before the song begins. For me, this is a huge plus. ”Into the light” starts at once with soft, analogue sounding synthesizers, with some vulnerable vocals to follow. The soundscape is simple and without too many different elements, but it´s atmospheric and creates this wonderful and dreamy escape from reality. There is no drum set, but a bass drum that plays along with the bass line and occasional tom drums. Still there are some breaks with syncopation in the bass drum that creates some unexpected dynamic in the song.
Though a short song, it´s a peaceful and slightly magical break from whatever you´re doing.
