The always lovely Tony Scott from DR P3 met lead singer Alex Kapranos from Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand in the backstage area of Northside Festival. Since the local festival announced the Scottish act we’ve been eagerly awaiting them as little boys in a candy store with parents saying wait for it.. be quite and wait for it.
As Asbjørn Lyhne wrote after their NS gig:
I’ve never seen Franz Ferdinand live before, and it has been bothering me, actually. I’ve always wanted to see them, but for some reason never got the chance – so yesterdays concert was something that I’d been looking forward to!
At this time, a lot of people had shown up – and the festival area seemed packed by now, meaning only one thing: standing in line for at least 30 minutes just for a beer. The Payband thing worked, but not as perfect as hoped and certainly not as quickly as hoped. With memories going back to a missed standing-in-line Crystal Castles concert at NorthSide, a few years back.
While standing in line, Franz Ferdinand started their hit parade. Their music definitely changed the attitude in the line, people started singing, smiling and dancing. I got back to my friends just in time, bringing a lot of beers and a smile. The concert was just what I’d imagined, lived up to my expectations, and by now I never have to look for Franz Ferdinand concert again. Check.
