In 2017, Aarhus are going to be the Cultural Capital of Europe, and that means, among other things that Aarhus constantly have to stay ahead and offer unique cultural experiences and that Aarhus has a constant vibrant cultural life, providing space, innovative and last but not least support around various cultural events – it also means that the focus should be on the music scene and all the original music that tends to be forgotten because they do not have the right opportunities to be heard.
Now this will change because venues like Backstage Aarhus, has given the new and original bands the space they need, among other things, at the events “Upcoming Thursdays” which focuses solely on the bands that never really goes outside the rehearsal room or just need a musical playground and a space to be completely free, regardless of genre and whether they have a whole set or just 3-4 numbers.
Another, slightly older, arrangement who have chosen to take hold of the new and original sound is Escobar’s “Hell’s Kitchen” which, as the name indicates, primarily engaged in rock. A common denominator for the locations in Aarhus who have put their trust in the new, upcoming music scene, is the belief in the music that needs launching or needs to be pushed in the right direction.
“Upcoming Thursday” will focus on the people who want to spend their Thursdays experiencing a lot of new and exciting music and who want to keep up with what is going on in the music scene – With great cheap prices in the bar at the same time!
Nephew, Analogik, Hatesphere, Veto and Under Byen are bands that are firmly established on the Danish music scene and they all have roots in Aarhus – and now both Backstage, Escobar and many other Arhus venues are getting ready to give new bands the chance of their debut regardless of genre and age!
Start out tomorrow with “Upcoming Thursdays” on Backstage 20:00 with Esben Kronborg, Total Hip Replacement, Caper Clowns and Strings To Disorder on stage!
