I want a Ford Gran Torino and the Nevada dessert in front of me. At least I want this after hearing this. This is retro 70’s soul outfit D/troit, straight out of Copenhagen. Remember the name. It is not a spelling mistake in the heading, the band is really called D/troit and their tracks are so Starsky & Hutch that they could bring the series to the top of the charts one more time if it were to be re-released tomorrow.
Musically D/troit move in the field between soul and funk, and seamlessly fuse major giants James Brown and Marvin Gaye. The way they do it brings your mind on a virtual trip down memory lane to the days of colorful clothes with crazy fit, peace-signs and obvious differences between the good and bad guys in movies.
Maybe you experienced them at this year’s SPOT Festival 2015. A lot of people did. Or maybe you have heard them on P3 or P6. No matter what, you simply just have to sit back, relax and start the tracks below. This could quite well be the next big thing to come out of Denmark.
