I have said it before, and I will continue to say it as long as I am in charge of this: Some day our local long-haired rockers from The White Dominos will conquer the country with their straightforward rock simplicity.
Since the release of their self-titled debut in 2013, a feature as one of our handpicked ‘Artists of 2014’, and a crash concert in the center of busy Aarhus closed down by the authorities, a lot of things have been happening for the promising band including a massive amount of live gigs.
Only a couple of weeks ago they unveiled the news about a new album coming out in October, with an official release party coming up at Fatter Eskil this Saturday. Then only hours ago they decided to share their new single “Like A Ghost” with accompanying official video.
The video for “Like A Ghost” is, as far as I can see, recorded at dawn or in the late hours of dust in Aarhus, and it even includes a Beatles-like rooftop performance on top of FirstHotelAtlantic. Combined with the vocals, rawness of the guitars and tight drums, this video shows you the feeling of complete loneliness and isolation. The feeling of being the only human left on earth – or at least in Aarhus. In short, the city of smiles just became the loneliest city on the planet.
I don’t want to describe it further, as I want you to see it for yourself below. As a little spoiler alert, I can tell you that they even caught the attention of Jacob Bundsgaard (see link), the lovely major of Aarhus, with their rooftop performance in the video. Check it out below, it is worth it!
