Let me be short on this one. When you fill the P6 Stage to capacity, you see eyes filled with joy behind people’s trendy sunglasses, and people can and want to sing along to the entire setlist – then I put my guard down and just follow the flow.
After hours of freezing cold, Years & Years brought not only smoking hot music but also the sunshine decided to pay a visit during their gig. All in all this created an almost majestic atmosphere. The singing and dancing crowd as their humble servants enjoying our limited amount of time in front of the current kings of soulful electro-pop, Years & Years.
Before this concert I must admit that I had my doubts. Not about the band, but about the location of the concert. The band has been breaking the internet ever since releasing their first tracks, and with everybody talking about this one UK band, I had by doubts about the limited space at the P6 stage. That said it created an intense feeling of excited people when we all had to be their way before concert-start, just to be able to see Years & Years perform. The trees around the P6 stage, the breaking sunlight from above and the soulful electro music simply just fit together perfectly.
In short. This concert was exactly the thing the hopeful Sam Smith fans needed. This concert was exactly what people in general needed in the cold windy weather.
Thank you Northside Festival. Usually we only count to six – If only I could count to seven after this gig.
