The Temper Trap was a “make up” concert from a few years ago when they cancelled – now they are back with a brand-new record under their hood – but met the sun-ravished crowd who seemed little more than impressed with their newer material.
The weather was at it’s peak – and the sound pretty on point with no wind carrying away anything – but I couldn’t help but think “why did they put Yeasayer on at the exact same time?” as it’s fairly obvious to me that if you’re a fan of the genre – you had to make a tough choice here. I can’t fault The Temper Tramp’s musical abilities – but there was absolutely no stage presence or much of the usual crowd baiting that a festival act would be doing at this point in the day- that and unfortunately their set was sandwiched between two Danish hip-hop acts who would see the audience absolutely bonkers.
I’d like to catch TT at their own gig in a better setting – maybe it just wasn’t meant to be with NS16.
Seems like The Temper Trap and NorthSide just aren't meant to be, but you can't fault their musical abilities. (3/6)
