Earlier this year we have seen Emilie Nicolas’ show during Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands, and we are very happy she is passing by Aarhus to perform SPOT festival 2014. At that time we could already say: she’s worth been checked out.
We already wrote about her last year and featured her as one of our WatchOuts and oh’ boy she has talent. “We are talking electro-pop with a melancholic twist and great energy. There’s no sign of a record deal yet although according to Norwegian medias several record companies has shown their interest.” [SOA, September 2013]
To the most, she’s known for her cover of “Pstereo” from Dum Dum Boys, which she actually completely transformed in something new and evocative. However, the mystic and melancholic sound is perpetrated through the very own songs that the 25 year old Norwegian artist have till now released.
Her pensive and fragile voice holds suspense through the deep and powerful lyrics, while being carried out and delivered by electro-pop sounds.
Just recently, she released her very first video for “Grown Up” , a song written for her father. The video, footages from her youth in Norway, the minimalistic sound and the feeble, but still in crescendo voice, brings you directly in a comfortable yet melancholic place.
