People often refer to Baby In Vain as noise rock, others as grunge and they’re also known for a kind of bluesy sound. That’s exactly how versatile Baby In Vain are. The all-girl power trio manages to create a very deep and intense sound – even though they don’t have a bassist in the band.
You might notice the dronelike vocals of Lola Hammerich, the trios lead singer. Andrea, the guitarist, describes in an interview how she was inspired by Sonic Youth’s iconic Dirty album as early as in 8th grade. This goes well with the recommendation they received in a teaser for their performance at Roskilde Festival – from Sonic Youth guitarist and singer Thurston Moore himself!
They started out touring with The Floor Is Made Of Lava back in 2012 as a warm up act, and now they’re touring the world from Aarhus to Los Angeles. Check out this awesome cover of Gimme Danger (Iggy and the Stooges) released for Record Store Day 2013 featuring the very first band they started touring with.
