At some of the venues you can experience the last concerts in 2013, so it’s time to leave the couch and check out some of the concerts in town!
Ukendt Kunstner + DJ Peter Plus + Special guests Karl William & Tais, Radar – 90 DKK
The Reggae/Dancehall scene has been booming the last couple of years in DK, and one of the names that stands out is Ukendt Kunstner. It is Hans Philip and producer Jens Ole Mccoy, and it’s a debut album that scored straight a’s in Politikken and Soundvenue. They’ve played at SmukFest, Trailerpark and Roskilde Festival, and here in December they’ll be playing concerts in Odense, Aarhus and Copenhagen. With them they’ll bring two local talents in Karl William and Tais. We’ve been through both here at SOA, and these guys are definitely future stars in Aarhus.
Drön release + Fossils + Raithlin Brothers + DJ Dusty Wax, HQ – Free
This friday DRÖN will release their long awaited debut, and to celebrate it they’re throwing an alternative release party, but what an idea! Three really different duos will be on stage on this duo-extravaganza, and take people through three different kinds of rock.
Oh Land + support: Owen Evans + Kill J + Voltage Funk, VoxHall – 210 DKK
She is without a doubt one of the biggest danish pop-stars, and she is visiting VoxHall on their last concert in 2013. After the release of her second album, in 2011, she really got her commercial breakthrough, with massive airplay in the radio, and oh yeah, she performed at Letterman! Since then she haven’t looked back, and Oh Land recently released her third album – and critics love it!
As support she brings Owen Evans, from Copenhagen it’s Kill J and from Aarhus it’s Voltage Funk.
Total Hip Replacement + Chatterbox , Gyngen – 30 DKK
This young, local and talented band is leaving DK, and leaving for Ghana. Here they’ll be touring and be involved in a development project, but the entire project haven’t been fully funded yet. That’s why they are throwing a support concert, and they need all of you down there! So far they’ve played at a lot of the venues in Aarhus, but this is still an upcoming band who haven’t compromised with the originality of their music. It’s funk, reggae and hip hop, and it’s delivered with a raw energy. Saturday they’ll be joined by Chatterbox, a very young Aarhus band delivering soul/hiphop. They recently played support for Flødeklinikken.
Boho Dancer + Dangers of the sea, Studenterhus Aarhus – 80 DKK
Two of the biggest talents in 2013 joins forces, and their tour takes them by Studenterhuset this Saturday, the last stop! Both bands released brilliant albums this year, and both bands have been nominated for the best danish band, best new band and a nomination more at GAFFA awards. We’ve had spot on Boho Dancer a couple of times, as this is a truly promising name, and with Dangers of the Sea joining this is indeed a brilliant concert.
