We’re back with our recommendations to the best concerts this week, and we’re starting with two great concerts this evening!
This week has one of the best starts this year, with two big names visiting two of the biggest stages in Aarhus. Tonight, at Train, you can witness two girls from Los Angeles, Lindsay and Julie a.k.a Deap Vally. Some of you might remember them from this years Northside Festival, where Gaffa gave them a solid 5-star review for their performance on red stage. The price tonight is 120 DKK.
Also tonight, there’s post-punk at Atlas, where the popular New York band Crystal Stilts will perform. It’s psychedelic garage, noise rock, dreamy pop and indie, and the price is 100 DKK.
Wednesday is also a great day this week, primarily on the upcoming scene. At HeadQuarters you can listen to the highly praised The Boy That Got Away. So far there’s been great concerts Skanderborg Festival, Jelling Festival and Nibe Festival for this project, and last year they performed at ‘Danmarks største Fredagsbar’ with Veto, I Got You On Tape and Who Made Who. The price wednesday at HQ is 30 DKK.
At Atlas, also Wednesday, you can hear the new album from Navneløs – live. With their new album done, they’ll perform every song from ‘Værk’, in intimate surroundings with a sitting audience. And wait, Wednesday is not done yet! At Fatter Eskil you get the chance to hear Dúné perform an acoustic set-up. The concert with Dúné starts at 20.00, and after that there’s open jam on the stage.
Thursday is Newbees Night at Studenterhus Aarhus, for only 40 DKK (20 DKK for members) you can hear the local girl Fjer. She recently moved back from New York, from where her career really started to take shape, especially with the release of the free EP ‘A New Start’. Her support act is also a young singer/songwriter, Saar Ideál.
The concert Friday with The Tallest Man on Earth, and support from Idiot Wind, has been sold out for a long time now, but for those who have tickets – Enjoy! It’s definitely a big one.
Saturday it’s time for some local rock! The White Dominos has a sound of trashed hotel rooms, and empty whisky bottles. It’s Bluesrock with tight jeans, with heritage from the Led Zeppelin, Cream and many others – and it’s straight outta Aarhus! It’s at Radar, and the price is only 30 DKK.
We’re ending week 47 with the american indie-rockers The Dodos at Atlas, Sunday. Their latest album ‘Carrier’ is the fifth record since 2006, and it’s critically acclaimed by major magazines all over the world. They draw comparisons to Iron & Wine, Vampire Weekend and Yeasayer. The prices is 130 DKK.
