No matter what music you prefer, there are great concerts for you this week!
We are starting this weeks recommendations with the Local Natives concert at VoxHall Tuesday. Quite a big opener, and quite the start to this weeks concert activities. The american indie rockers are touring Europe, and visiting Denmark Monday (Vega) and Tuesday (VoxHall). They released their second album, the critically acclaimed “Hummingbird”, an album that brought appearances at ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’. Local Natives are called a mixture of Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes and Arcade Fire. The Support comes from the hyped Australian “pop” band Cloud Control, and the price is 230 DKK.
Moving on, we have a new JAMMIN’ session at Radar Wednesday, this time with Kim Munk (The Broken Beats), Emir Bosnjak, Naja Rosa and Ali Minshawi. Also Wednesday at VoxHall there’s a concert with the incredible American singer/songwriter Julia Holter. One of the most interesting artists of her genre, with her exploring of pop and electronic minimalism and her true originality. She performed at Roskilde Festival in 2012, and she’s now back in DK, this this time at VoxHall. Julia Holter draws comparisons to Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush and Björk. The price is 180 DKK.
Thursday it’s time for a concert with the UNIK signed artist Cystal Shipsss (Jacob Faurholt), who’s touring with his fellow dane-in-Berlin Tjaere+Fjer (Jens Christian Madsen). We’ve recently reviewed the newest record from Crystal Shipsss, “Dirty Dancer”, and we can’t wait to experience his personal stories wrapped in lo-fi noise pop. Tjaere+Fjer plays elsctronic alt. pop, and just released his 4 track “FAKE” EP. Both artists recently played at REVERB (Berlin) with Mono Girl, Ulige Numre and CTM, followed up by a concert in Dresden. Now they are in DK and performing at Radar this thursday. The price is only 50 DKK, so show up and witness some Denmarks upcoming treasures.
Also Thursday, performing at VoxHall is the english alternative indie rockers from The Veils. With the slightly theatrical front figure Finn Andrews, they are known for their often chaotic performances. Their newest recorded, and fourth of it’s kind, “Time Stays, We Go” was released earlier this year, and the band draws comparisons with Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright and David Bowie. The price is 130 DKK.
And then it’s time to celebrate the start of the weekend, Friday at Train you can experience one of the craziest producer ever seen, when it comes to playing live music – AraabMuzik. He has sold beats to huge artists, but he is most known for his live performances. With him he brings 2 MPC’s (Music Production Controller), and a computer, and he plays everything from hip-hop to Drum’n’bass, with an insane speed. One of those who actually play live, and at the same time it’s entertaining. Also performing at Train Friday is one of our favorite grime-rappers Linkoban. Guaranteed a concert where you find yourself dancing along to the contagious grime/pop with heavy beats. Price is 85 DKK.
