You probably already know which acts to catch at this year’s Roskilde Festival. Besides Rolling Stones, Damon Albarn, Outkast, Major Lazer, Stevie Wonder, Manu Chao (the obvious must-sees), here are some of the artists who seriously deserves special attention at Roskilde Festival, which is in less than a week, and we are psyched!
1 – Dilated Peoples:
Because it’s real hip hop – period. Not the “hoes, cars and money” type of hip hop, but down-to-earth rap. They are currently out with a new album after almost a decade of hiatus.
2 – Kelela:
Difficult to pinpoint, but probably THE experimental R&B goddess. She is one of the most worshipped names in her genre, because of the great producers behind her gorgeous voice.
3 – Tokimonsta:
Brilliant Korean-American DJ/producer and electronic butterfly. She uses a vast selection of soundscapes and mixes classical with progressive. With Gavin Turek on vocals, dreams come true.
4 – Moderat:
Modeselektor + Apparat’s genius baby. It’s electronic music as its best, and has been voted best live act several times. I can agree with that, as I was blown away after their concert at Train some months back.
5 – Darkside:
Consists of electronic guru Nicolas Jaar, and multi-instrumentalist and producer, Dave Harrington. Have a listen, and you’ll understand why it’s worth your time.
6 – Kill J:
Experimental R&B/hip hop goes electro. The cool blonde with sharp edginess boomed after just one single. There aren’t many songs, but quality over quantity.
7 – Connan Mockasin:
Creepy and weird-looking dude creates funky 80’s hypnotizing (and still kind of creepy) music. I still haven’t quite figured what it is, but I know it’s damn good.
8 – Spids Nøgenhat:
Well, what do you expect of a band named after a psychedelic mushroom? Apparently their rider consists of water, bread, tea, love and LSD. What’s not to love?
9 – Karl William:
The young local R&B hero, a part of the hukaos crew, is one of the most hyped names in the Danish music industry. Slow and steady, just as we like it.
10 – Ryan Hemsworth:
Canadian DJ and producer, who might be most famous for his remixes of Frank Ocean, Lana del Rey, Lorde and Tinashe, but also creates delicious tracks on his own.
