My first thought after getting through this debut album from local talent Tais was actually something like “Was that it?”. I simply felt unmoved, untouched and bored. I felt like the album was like hiking by a gray ocean in the rain, boring and muddy. The lyrics were, as many Danish artists suffer from, boring and simple. I felt that it like I had just experienced something incoherent, an album made from an artist that wanted to go in too many directions, but boy was I wrong.
The problem when walking in the rain, especially if you wear glasses like me, is that you tend to squint so that you won’t get the rain in your eyes. During my second round I accepted the rain, stopped walking, and looked upon the ocean of Tais’s sound. I found that pearls lay upon the sand, and that the waves battered against the coast in tact with the music. A really beautiful internal image!
This album is a thorough RnB experience stimulating your ears in unexpected but beautiful ways, not on the first round though, maybe not on the second either, but once you lay down your defense and let it seduce your ears it becomes a beautiful journey. “A” for effort Tais. Furthermore – his debut album is for free download too!
Beautiful RnB, that requires more than one play trough to get to you. But oh boy – Tais has some serious talent!
