Release 4/11/2013 via Trechoma Records.
The fourth of November Surfact will release their fourth studio album. The album is partially a collection of already published songs but furthermore those songs are now unplugged, hence the title of the album.
Jesper Storgaard (Vocal) is putting himself to the test with Surfacts fourth album. This time the vocal has found itself at the very top of the mix, and the experienced singer whose voice sounds like as a mix of Tim Christensen and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) does an impressing job.
Unamplified consists of 11 tracks all handpicked from the Surfacts former albums. Some of the tracks are more successful in this unplugged version than others. An example of a successful conversion of a track is “Last Mile”. The track “Last Mile” was originally released on the album “Euphoria” back in 2009, and was a hard hitting rock/grunge track with a lot of feeling to it. All that persists of the original version of “Last Mile” on the new album is the feeling and the beautiful melody.
Unfortunately Surfact doesn’t grasp the opportunity of completely giving the tracks a new feel every time. An example would be the track “Mindslave” which was originally released on the first album “Terrific Downfall” in 2006. On this track it simply seems like Surfact has turned the distortion off, and that is not reason enough for releasing a new album.
