Reptile Youth resumes collaboration with Abby Portner for a visually explosive concert in Aarhus
Got your attention? Good, because if the name Reptile Youth makes your feet shiver from excitement, you now have the chance to dance with them up close at a very unique arrangement at Bora Bora in Aarhus. You cannot miss this if you are a real Reptile Youth fan.
The band is only playing a few places this fall and in order to make it extra special, they have hooked up with the American artist, Abby Portner who will contribute to the concerts with her characteristic scenographic work and videos. You may already know the artist from her former work with Reptile Youth at CPH:DOX, SPOT festival and her cooperation with Animal Collective.
When making the videos for the visual concert experience, Abby Portner says that she mostly feels inspired by the huge difference between the climate and landscape scenery of the each their respective native countries. She tries to illustrate the distinctions in the cool blue and green colors of Vibe in DK and the warm, dusty appearances of the beaches and deserts of LA in USA. The purpose is to create certain moods and feelings by presenting visuals fitting Reptile Youth’s expressive audio sound.
At the concert the band members will play their energetic and edgy pop sounds both coming from their new EP “Away” and older material. Abby Portner’s simultaneous performance will convey the band’s expression into beautiful, mood setting imagery, bouncing along with the big curly hair of the front man in Reptile Youth, Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen.
You can experience this must-see setup at Bremen Theatre in Copenhagen 29th of September, at Mungo Park in Kolding 2nd of October and at one of the coziest places in Aarhus, Bora Bora 3rd of October.
Warm up for the concert by watching this live session video from the band’s former work with Abby Portner for CPH:DOX in november.
