4 years, 51 shows, 112 bands, 14 different places – And there’s more to come!
Looking for music based on artistic values, uncompromising shows, sounds and vibes that can totally change your thoughts about what music really is? Raum Eins could quite well be the thing you have been looking for!
Aarhus has never been a city of rock in it’s many forms. But the fact that Aarhus hasn’t delivered as many rock bands as Copenhagen, to the mainstream scene, does not mean that there aren’t any experimental rock bands in the underground. At Raum Eins they have been focusing on this for a couple of years now, celebrating these bands by releasing their material and arranging concerts at 14 different locations in Aarhus.
The release of bands such as Acid Twin and Spökraket has given really helped give the music scene in Aarhus what you could call more edge or a new dimension. They have given us a new kind of scene back you could say – a scene highly influenced by keyboards and guys in way too skinny jeans. This is exactly their force. Raum Eins wants you to look further and deeper into an neglected scene which has been ignored for a long time in Aarhus.
Usually Raum Eins hosts their concerts at Trøjborg Beboerhus in (yeah you guessed it) Trøjborg. This place fits very well for the big diversity of bands visiting Raum Eins. It is important to keep in mind the fact that Raum Eins isn’t only brutal noise and punk, they are also impro- and folk inspired music.
Another place also fitting brilliant with the music Raum Eins represents is the bridge at Sonnesgade. The event “Doom Under Sonnesgade” is typically held during summertime and what is better than digging doom under a bridge with a cold beer and a big cans with fire all over the place?!
Yesterday (Friday, April 11th) ”Raums Eins Show #51” took place at Trøjborg Beboerhus. People gathered to see: Morgan Sqaure, a band from Aarhus who seems to have been raised with some dirty The Doors records next to them playing in loop; Mindfulness, an impro band who in their band description writes: “Mindfulness forces you to be in the present (or leave)” And; Spökraket, an Aarhus based psych band who released the 7” vinyl “Distant Night” at the concert.
All this is just a small piece of what Raum Eins really is, a small look inside Raum Eins. Other bands to mention Raum Eins presents at their shows are: Bed Bugs, Slængs, Tumor Warlord, Urban Achivers, Acid Twin, Psudeo Dogs and many, many more. Just take a look at their wordpress page (PRESS HERE).
We are looking forward to enjoy many future Raum Eins hosted shows and to celebrate an underground scene sounding exactly like what it is – a piece of the underground!
