What do you do, when you want to see new blooming bands, but you find a lot of the concerts in the Aarhus area way too freakin’ expensive? The answer is simple: You check out the Radar HIGH events; a showcase type of concert costing only 10 kr. It will take place at Radar (no shit) on Friday, February 12. You do not need a study card in order to get in.
In short, Radar HIGH is a musical collaboration of young talented, and passionate people, that will be curated and organized by young guns from Aarhus Statsgymnasium and Aarhus Katedralskole. This time, they have found four blooming bands to entertain you, and maybe become your next favorite band in town. The lineup will be as follows:
One of the blooming faces on the local, as well as the national hip-hop scene. Together with beat-wizard ‘Koala’, this talented guy has loaded the guns with magnificent English lyrics. Especially check out his newest release ‘Greetings’; a track that mixes an intense party, dope lyrics, and Johnny Bravo (!) quotes into a tasteful mixture.
House of Life:
Described on their facebook as a rock slash indie-rock band, I have to admit that this is more indie-rock than pure rock. To be honest, I have never experienced these guys live, so this will be a first time for me as well. Therefore, what I expect are pure energy, a massive live performance, and a use of fast power chords.
Here is one of the more established upcoming bands in town. Last year I experienced Nava at NyV58, when they performed together with Copenhagen-based John Alcabean, and Greenaa-Based Pacific Swell. It was a brilliant performance. Especially keep your ears focused on their lead singer’s vocals – they are great. Rumors are that Nava will soon release new material, maybe even an EP or an album, so expect to hear new materials on this night.
Mix two people and two musical genres. Put it all together and boil it on the stove. You will end up with this electronic-RnB duo. It is well produced and intensively performed. It has elements of jazz, pop, electronica and RnB. A short time ago they won Musikalsk Ungdoms Konkurrence, therefore, they will be performing at Smukfest this summer.
To sum up this night. Expect the unexpected – This is the future sound of Aarhus.
