For more than 10 years he has been releasing music with the Danish rock band The Blue Van. A band he has played with since the age of 13. 5 albums, and 2 EP’s, a lot of big concerts on big festivals, and now it’s time to try something really different – a solo project.
And this is not the end of The Blue Van, this is just a songwriter and musician trying out a different side of his talent.
His forthcoming album, Deserter, is set to be released 26.08.13, and on this album you find songs written during the last five years, recorded during the last two. Songs about human beings, challenging life situations and love. See him at Radar on September 12!
We had a quick chat with Steffen Westmark:

[chat question=”The first time people hear my soloproject they shall expect..“]
A good mix of alternative country, singer/songwriter and big string arrangements, where I get to explore other sides of my voice and lyrical universe. The perfect soundtrack for a late summer/ early autumns day.
[chat question=”The artist that have meant and means the most to me and my musical development is…“]
Tom Waits [/chat]
[chat question=”In the future I would love to play music with..“]
Tom Waits…haha, but I doubt that’ll happen. But it would be fun to work with a music legend. Danish or international.
[chat question=”Another musician i predict a great future for is..“]
My good friend Jørck (Trine Jørck) just made an insanely well written and great sounding EP together with her better half, Torben Guldager, who also happens to play guitar and piano in S. Westmark backing band. As soon as it’s available for sale I strongly recommend you buy it.
[chat question=”In the rest of 2013 I expect..“]
To be really busy, both with S. Westmark and The Blue Van. I’m touring with S. Westmark the two first weekends of September and doing an acoustic fall tour with The Blue Van. Stressfull and awesome!
