Earlier today the young moniker Bwoy De Bhajan released his debut EP ”2032” via Soundesc.
Things are going quite well on the danish electronic scene at the moment. Several young super talents are starting to influence the environment by creating brand new sounds, and they’re good at it. One of the super talents is 18-year old Søren Thygesen, who goes under the alias Bwoy De Bhajan. Earlier today he released a masterpiece of a debut EP titled ”2032”.
On this brand new EP he really takes the listener on a journey through sounds from all over the world, and in a soundscape that sounds like he’s been doing this for a very long time!
Earlier this month he had the song Global Aztec Civilisation as a ‘top track’ on Soundvenue, and you can definitely understand why. Especially that song sums up quite well who Bwoy De Bhajan is, and what he is capable of mixing together. It is a sort of dreamy track with beats, hip-hop, ethniv-twist and in general a very relaxing song. Listen to the song above the article.
We had a quick-four talk with the young producer.
[chat question=”What musician or band would you guys prefer to go on a date with, and why?“]
Oh man, i think a date with Amon Tobin could be super interesting. His older music setting the romantic mood, while meeting the dude he is today. This guy knows things that nobody else knows. I would also go on a date with Missy Elliott. I mean why not, she grabbed my damn leg and blinked at me in Vega, i take that as a strong signal.
[chat question=”Which artists have meant (and means) the most to you and your musical development?“]
It’s Dave Tipper without any doubt. No matter who you thought had the craziest sound design skills, you haven’t heard shit yet. This guy is so many lightyears ahead of us, DJ Hvad is a human being next to him. He’s got textures and sounds and a style that you could call similar to what i’m doing, but at the same time it’s far from the same. Really worth checking him out.
[chat question=”Which upcoming musician do you predict a great future?
I have been listening a lot to Filip Ja recently, i just simply love this dude so much. When i first heard his ‘Vebak’ tunes i cried a little bit. His “Periods” releases are out now, and they’re damn fine. Also the new danish beatmaker who could just be from L.A. without any of us knowing so, is I Kicked A Cloud Once. I’m so happy he would remix one of my tracks for the EP. I’m gonna be cheering about that when he’s on world tour in a couple of years. Great beats from this guy! Also a big shout out to Eelahno, who’s been making inspiring tracks lately. Proud to call this guy a close friend of mine.
[chat question=”What do you expect of 2013 (and also concerning your music)?“]
I hope that this is the year where the Australian Beat scene expands, cause they’ve got so many talented people down there, and it blows my mind that nobody has ever heard of any of them (Spoonbill, Opiuo, SUN:MONX, Sun In Aquarius, Woulg, i hope this rings a bell for some people!) I’m doing collabs with some fine artists, and remixes for others, i don’t know how much i can reveal, but i’m working on it hehe. Also, i’m gonna be working very hard on finishing an album, with my same trippy drums & synths, but with more east asian & indian instruments included, and more textures and more atmosphere included. Fuck yeah!
