One of the most promising Danish bands, The Entrepreneurs, returns with a new single and video before the release of their forthcoming debut EP ‘Tony Rominger’. So far, the Danish trio – consisting of Mathias Bertelsen, Anders Hvass, and Jonas Wetterslev – has released three singles, which have already gained much airplay on the national radios. Moreover, the band has been named as the new shit by all the musical trendsetters in our small monarchy, after massive performances at SPOT Festival, Distortion, Roskilde Festival, UHØRT, Alive Festival, and Offspring.
Personally, I cannot wait to get my hands on their debut EP ‘Tony Rominger’. It is scheduled for release on April 1 via Like A Can Of Beans Records, and is named after the Swiss cyclists (born in Denmark) of the same name. According to lead singer Mathias Bertelsen, the main reason for this choice of name is a personal celebration of Tony Rominger’s achievements back in the days, when the entire cycling sport was still innocent and poetic, in contrast to the streamlined and professionalized current state of the sport. According to Mathias, the same goes for music – “If it becomes to streamlined and professionalized it loses its spontaneity, which often times makes it appear boring.”
Before The Entrepreneurs kickstart their Denmark tour later in March, and before the release of their debut EP in April, they just unveiled ‘Unable To Stop’ – the second single from their forthcoming EP. Musically, it follows their fundamental soundscape heard on their previous releases, but where the guitar usually leads their tracks, the deep bass line especially leads ‘Unable To Stop’. As usual, Mathias Bertelsen’s vocal transforms the deep soundscape from sonic noise to expressive elegance. It all appears poetic in some way – as a heartbroken patient trying to convince the psychologist about the reasons why he is unable to stop doing, whatever he has been accused of doing.
Check out ‘Unable To Stop’ below, and remember to buy a ticket for one (or some?) of the gigs on their upcoming ‘The Tony Rominger Tour‘. It will bring them to venues all over Denmark, but will be starting at Fatter Eskil in Aarhus. I do not know much about their plans for the summer, but I do know that it is gonna be one hell of a Brutal Spring!
