We are a folk/pop band from Aarhus called Northern Assembly, and this week we are on tour in Switzerland! Our bassist Jesper had to stay home this time, but we are lucky enough to be touring with our friend Adrian who is a great stand-in.
Today is Friday and right now we’re sitting in a small café in St.Gallen in Switzerland, recovering from two very busy days of driving and concerts.
Thursday (last week), we drove through the night down through Germany and arrived in Bern on Friday afternoon where we set up to play our first gig at “Im Quadrat“, a converted design store / restaurant / concert venue. To our surprise the audience was very much like in Denmark: reserved, but appreciative, cool, but not crazy. The organizer Martin had found a hippie collective where we could spend the night. We knew it was alternative when we arrived because people were sitting around in their underwear drinking wine. Cool place.
Last night we played our second tour concert at a Nordic music festival in St. Gallen called Nordklang, along with other Danish artists like Lydmor, Palace Winter and Wangel. The venue was this amazing converted crypt called Pfalzkeller under an old monastery in the city. The venue was completely sold out, and both crowd and the acoustics were simply amazing, making yesterday’s concert an experience to remember.
Our next stop is Aarau. More updates soon!
