The summer and festival season seems far away when a local festival announces three out of the five names you wanna see the most, and when the last two of them are extremely relevant.
Now, we’ve got Radiohead. The biggest band in the world. That alone decides it; you’re going – and so am I. But today, NorthSide Festival announced a pile of 4 new acts to be playing our lovely, local festival next summer:
First up, Mø, which is the obvious one. Even though she’s practically been at every major Danish festival every year for quite some time now, she’s still the queen of Danish pop music, and we’ll never really grow tired of her. She deserves to be there, year after year. Bisse recently released what this writer considers as the best Danish album so far this year – yup, I said it. Can’t really say, that it’s about time he got the spot at NorthSide, as he, despite having released five albums, is sort of new name on the Danish scene. Bold yet obvious and important move from the booking office at the festival. Next up, the local heroes from Liss; they’ve established themselves faster than Bisse is releasing albums, and it seems like the most natural thing that Liss is playing NorthSide (I think it’s one of those ‘2+2 = 5’ situations). The last act from today’s pile of announcements: Run The Jewels. A pretty big one, if you ask me, and an act that goes extremely well with the other acts announced so far. Can’t wait to catch El-P and Killer Mike again.
We all have different tastes, wishes, and demands for a festival line-up. Especially when it comes to NorthSide, who previously haven’t been able to get around Lukas Graham and the likes. In my opinion, though, this is the most impressive start I’ve seen in ages!
