The lovely Astrid Nora, who’s behind Where Did Nora Go, will be releasing a new album in September – and on this album she decided to skip the traditional instruments; guitar, drums, bass. On the first single ‘Shelter’, this seems like a very promising and wise decision!
On the new material from Where Did Nora Go, the charismatic and strong vocal from Astrid Nora is centered, and from that the cello, piano and other beautiful instruments have their starting points. It creates this sort of captivating atmosphere that suits the vocal from Astrid Nora really, really well.
She has previously been compared to artists such as Ane Brun, Kate Bush and Björk, and that has definitely been a fair comparison, and with the new set-up she’s getting closer to some of the artists that have inspired Where Did Nora Go – and this time you can add some Agnes Obel as well, however, in the end Where Did Nora Go is Where Did Nora Go, and Astrid Nora and her two producers, Henrik Marstal & Kasper Rasmussen, did a great job on this first single!
The forthcoming album is called Shimmer, and will be released on September 8th through the German label Rough Trade – who also works with Antony & The Johnsons and Arcade Fire.
The video is made by Daniel Buchwald, and he did a very good job creating a video that captures the atmosphere from the song. Enjoy both video and song right here:
