It’s been a bit of a trend calling 2016 a shitty year, and telling it to f**k off. Sure, in some ways it’s been a more than difficult year – but let’s not get all political, shall we? Instead, let’s just, real fast, mention that 2016 was the year of satirical or ironic no-brainer music. We, at Sound of Aarhus, hope that last year’s hits remain exactly that; something belonging to 2016.
But while a few good musicians turned to the dark side, some of them just to make a statement, other musicians just stepped up their game, and last year saw incredible records from talented artists being released; Bisse, Trentemøller, Marching Church, and our very own Narcosatanicos, just to name a few. Several bands have opened doors to the UK and US, and now, music magazines from all over the world are keeping their eyes on Denmark. Yup, we’re doing just fine…
This year is only a week and a half old, but we’ve already been introduced to three new singles, that we’re hoping could help define the sound of 2017. Ready?
Lowly’s debut full-length is just around the corner!
These local heroes have come a long way so far, by time and time again releasing incredible material and impressing each and everyone with their solid live performances. Their latest release Prepare the Lake proves my point.
A month from now, they’ll release their long-awaited debut full-length, via Bella Union, and we can’t wait to hear the result. They’ll be performing in Aarhus in March at Tape, supported by Yune – a very promising new (and local) act.
Nine minutes of noise & romance with The Entrepreneurs!
Just the other day, The Entrepreneurs, one of DK’s finest live acts, released this beauty of a track. It’s called Amianto and takes the listener on a journey lasting 9 minutes and 25 seconds. No worries, though, The Entrepreneurs will make sure, that you feel phenomenal on this journey – they might even hold your hand if you want them to. Safe travels!
Shiny Darkly’s back!
It’s been rather quiet from this Copenhagen outfit, since the release of ‘Little Earth’ back in 2014. Not anymore, though! And yes, this single was premiered with a video in December but was officially released as a single and available for stream on January 4th.
We’ve got no clue on what 2017 will bring, but we certainly hope that this means, that a new album from Shiny Darkly is on its way and that they’ll stop by Aarhus anytime soon. Either way, The Other Man is one hell of a single.
