Nelson Can – who originally hails from the Aarhus area – has just announced their debut album “Now Is The Time To Deliver“, which is following the latest trend in the independent music and is crowdfunded through the Danish website Booomerang. The album will be released Monday the 15th of September and managed to collect 169 % of the original 15.000 DKK they asked for. It will be released on their own label Like A Can Of Beans Records and you can already listen to the first single “Talk About It” right here: [FOR FREE DOWNLOAD TOO]
In correlation with the upcoming album Nelson Can will be going on a nationwide tour with the Danish folk-rock Lovespeed, who released their critically acclaimed debut album this April as support. And this Saturday you will be able to catch an acoustic concert with both bands for free at Stardust Café, Records & Books. They will also be playing at Studenterhus Aarhus the 2nd of October.
Nelson Can started out as the punk band Niels På Dåse, but they split in 2008 and formed Nelson Can, a literal translation of their former name. With the new name came a new style of minimalistic lo-fi rock with their punk attitude still intact. Their style have been compared to White Stripes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they have received massive hype from the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine and NME and played live across Europe and even had their song “Apple Pie” placed in a Chinese Wolkswagen commercial.
In 2012 the drummer Tami H.P. Viberstoft was replaced with Maria Juntunen. Live they are known for their explosive and energetic performance and played five times during this years SPOT Festival. They simplistic style allows for leadsinger Selina Gins vocal to flourish as you can see from our live session at Crosseyes with them during SPOT Festival 2014 – See the session below!
Last year they released their second EP to rave reviews and even a 7” single that was also crowdfunded. The free concert this Saturday will start at 14:00 – FACEBOOK EVENT HERE!
