The slow tapping of the piano at the beginning of “What if life doesn’t kill you?”, reminds you, that the piano is actually a percussion instrument, and the beat it creates in this particular track, simply makes you feel like the rotation of the world is coming to a halt. Tomorrow at Atlas, Penny Police will bring the Danish poem “The valley of butterflies” (sommerfugledalen) to life with a mix of music, dance and video art. The Danish artist has a magical sound, and the production of her tracks has a very light sound comparable to the American artist Bon Iver.
The young composer Marie Fjeldsted better known as Penny Police, has got a voice that cuts straight to your bones, and quickly makes you feel, like you can connect to her lyrics, which are beautifully written, and very accessible due to her clear voice. We here at Sound of Aarhus, are very excited about this performance, which will combine several art forms into one creative expression. Come to atlas this Thursday at 8 pm. and watch a Danish talent burst her cocoon, unfold her wings, and make you feel in sync with the harmonic music, and sooner rather than later, you will be nodding your head to tapping beat of the piano, along with the rest of the people in the room.
