It’s a few days old now, but already Mew’s upcoming full-length new LP is shaping up to be a classic. “Carry Me To Safety” is a slow-burning torch ballad from the much-loved Danish group. It’s a pretty straight-forward track compared to the complex nature of their previous album, ±/-, released last year. It seems that Mew is back to a trio again, at least as far as the original line-up is concerned, with Bo Madsen (guitar) “leaving” the group to pursue a solo career.
A European tour was announced alongside “Carry Me To Safety”. If you’re one of the lucky few that were able to score tickets to their concert at The Copenhagen Acadamy Of Music, which features the band performing with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, you’ll be witnessing something special on 19/2 in the capital city.
Mew seem to have finally gained the momentum that they deserve internationally from years of brilliant albums and shows around the world – let’s hope they drop by Aarhus – maybe even Ådalen, (hint hint Northside ’17) so we can see the new stuff in all it’s glory while we bask in the valor of being European Capital Of Culture for the year.
