As promised, we’re proud to share with you the 2nd installment of our collaborative sessions in the “Live At Tapetown” series; London-based Ulrika Spacek. The guys were able to drop by Tapetown studios here in Aarhus for a quick session early in the week before the Danish leg of their tour, departing for Copenhagen via ferry. The band, of course, returned later that Saturday night and played a blinder of a set at RADAR – a set which not only introduced many audience members to live re-workings of cuts off their second LP, Modern English Decoration, but served to reinforce how solid the London-based quintet’s back catalogue is too. Ulrika Spacek are really something to behold live, creating a swirling blast of perfectly formed bliss to forget everything else for an hour or so (what are these spots on my arm?) and treat your ears and body to a solid show.
A little about ‘Live At Tapetown’ – The sessions are a collaboration between Sound Of Aarhus, the locally run and operated Tapetown studios and local music venues. We’re striving to grab touring groups on their ‘down-time’ or if they have for example a free day in the area around their shows – and make sure they get a little taste of our city beyond the routines of being bored in between load-ins, sound checks and shows. We’ll be filming, mixing, mastering and spiffing up the results and flipping them out to our readers and beyond as soon as we can. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and check back in with Sound Of Aarhus for our exclusive debuts for the series of sessions – we have some good stuff planned.
Win some free Vinyl. Ulrika Spacek were kind enough to leave us some swag, in the form of some 7”’s – for a chance to win a copy, simply comment on our Facebook link for this article. Say whatever you want (Ja Tak, Nom Nom Nom Nom, Ah Geeez, etc…) and we’ll pick a random winner.
Stay tuned for more in the series real soon!
