Live At Tapetown: The Telescopes – ‘You Can’t Reach What You Hunger’ / ‘Something In My Brain’
The Telescopes are a band that for most folks could be filed under ‘great bands that you probably should get into’. Initially formed in 1987 – they became one of the more noteworthy underground indie/psych/shoegaze bands of the era. After releasing material on the legendary but short-lived Creation records, the band would dive further underground until the mid-2000s which saw them return – nonetheless as powerful and noisy as ever before.
(Virtually) Fresh off the heels of their recently released mini-LP: “As Light Returns” this year – the group were set to perform at Copenhagen Psych Fest a few weeks back, but unfortunately that fell through with the cancellation of the event. Long story short, they were kind enough to drop by Aarhus and record a live-in-studio sesh for our “Live At Tapetown” series. They also performed at a private launch-fest for the new Across The Floor experimental space. Nonetheless, we have at least this document capturing The Telescopes in full flight for your ears and eyes. Let’s hope we can attract them back however for a proper set in one of our venues of festivals in the not so distant future.
Grab your daily dose of noise here with the double punch of these two tracks together from the “As Light Returns” record – sounding just as awesome as they ever have in the last 30 years.
As always, check the YouTube channel for more of past and future sessions. We have a real special instalment coming at you in mere days with Peter Sommer.
