The revolutionary rapper Immortal Technique will visit Voxhall and Aarhus for only the second time this Friday. And when Immortal Technique comes to visit, you are in for an equal amount of lecturing and revolutionary rap.
The Harlem-rapper with Peruvian and African ancestry has been preaching his whole career and fighting social injustice and racism. All while being respected as one of the great rappers and storytellers. His first two albums “Revolutionary Vol. 1” and “Vol. 2” are considered modern classics and stories like “Dance With The Devil”, “You Never Know” and “Peruvian Cocaine” has put him up there with other storytelling greats like Slug (Atmosphere), Slick Rick , Biggie, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem.
Unlike most other political rappers Immortal Technique used his anger as an advantage and avoids sounding condescending and too preachy. Instead he captures the listener with clever lyrics and paints pictures in their mind. He is both charismatic and riveting and able to seeing the bigger perspective.
He has been controversial, like when he blamed George Bush for September 11th or when he told a story of a young gangbanger ending up raping his own mother. It is uncensored rap from the streets of New York with a worldwide perception and Immortal Technique also lives by his words and has helped to build children homes in Afghanistan and been part of several other charities and donated parts of his record sales.
The last time around he was awarded five stars from GAFFA and he is also working on his new album “The Middle Passage”, so there is plenty of good reasons to go experience the revolution with Immoral Technique and his guests Poisen Pen, Hasan Salaam and CF Constant Flow. Local triphop/hiphop group Manus Nigra will also do a short political show as a warm up.
