Everyone is really psyched about the evening. You can feel it in there. The tension. The expectations. And the urge to freak the fuck out. The Prodigy is ready backstage, but are we ready for them? Hell yeah. They entered in bright smoke, and suddenly sent out a roaring bass basher, that had people cheering and jumping from the beginning.
I was standing in front of the stage where people had waited to get even closer to the band. The lights and the smoke then switched to psycho green, the frontman then stepped out to the edge of the stage, looked into our eyes and said “So are you ready to breathe with me?! Where’s my Prodigy people!?” And they broke into ‘Breath’ and the crowd jumped uncontrolled around like there was no tomorrow.
After a couple of incidents of jumping into people and almost losing my camera, I had a need to move a bit away from the front, to watch the rest of this insanity from further away. Just to get a bit of everything.
Much time did not go by before they already played their next hit, ‘Firestarter’, and then ‘Voodoo People’ of course, where Keith Flint, the lead singer was pretty good at interacting with his fans. He encouraged us to go nuts and to show him that the Northside attendees were indeed his Prodigy People in that moment.
When ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ poured out from the speakers, they actually managed to get people in the back to freak out as well. They definitely reached people, no matter where they were standing. And even though we all thought that they would stop after their biggest hit, they kept going and going.
It all just turned into a freaky mass of rock and techno, so I did not get hold of the last songs, as I was too busy jumping around with the other bass-hypnotized people.
I can’t really say much more than it was pretty damn awesome. They really hit the spot for people, waiting for a bass pumping party.
