So, we just had our first actual SPOT Festival concert in 2015 – which also meant the first meeting with the Moment stage and our local soul princess: Ankah!
The first thought of the stage was that it seemed a bit ungrateful to play on, even though the surroundings was extremely cozy and a lot of lovely looking people had shown up to this early concert. Before the concert, I had high hopes for this young woman, she’s really been impressing us at the SOA office, and I can honestly say, that my thoughts of her was confirmed: This girl is really talented. I mean, she’s a really, really good singer. The soul genre hasn’t really managed to impress me for some time now, but this local act really does.
However, what impressed me was her – not the setup, and I have to be honest about this. Of all the musicians on stage, it seemed like it was only the guitar dude that actually enjoyed being on stage. The guy on keys did as well, but it was difficult to get a good view on him and observe him from where I was standing. Bass and drums had some timing difficulties and the band did in general seem nervous, or with a lack of confidence. Guys, believe in yourself – you are good at what you’re doing. I’m not sure if this great turn up actually knew if you enjoyed being on that stage – and I hope you did – but you didn’t seem to show us. Anyhow, this must be the beginning of a great journey for Ankah – I guarantee it.
