Ever wondered how the soundtrack for a ride across Denmark on an old motorcycle would sound?
Out today, the first single ‘Halvnøgen’ has been released from Ulige Numre’s forthcoming album ‘Grand Prix’. Even though they still draw upon a variety of influences with Love Shop as the most obvious one, they sound distinctly self-assured with this new track. While the majority of their former releases have been striking pop songs that belied their young age, this new single is moving them into more mature hemispheres lyrically focused on advising your younger and childish self. You probably already know the scene – lonely nights in June when the feeling of being completely alone strikes you like a gunshot in the kidney. A feeling where you are both physical and mentally homesick. Where the distance to safer perimeters at home where you grew up is greater than ever before.
Even though ‘Halvnøgen’ is sort of melancholic in its main theme it still creates some lovely and sunny mental pictures. Imagine the feeling of riding across Denmark on a warm and sunny day in the middle of July with your next place to sleep as the main concern. Whether it is due to the mature lyrical focus or the childish melodic dimension I can’t tell. What I can say is that this single indeed shows a positive development of one of the most blooming bands in Denmark.
