We love Tales Of Murder And Dust and certainly haven’t forgotten how brilliant their mix of neo-psych, post rock and Moriccone style western and horror film music is. The appearance of their new track Sisters today finally indicates that a new album might be in the pipeline very soon, and if it sounds anything like Sisters, we’re gonna have undoubtedly one of the best records ever to come out of Aarhus.
Sisters is a well recorded evil jaunt through almost Black Angels influenced doom-psych, but with support and orchestration from violin, backing female vocals and maybe even the clarinet? Whatever the case, the track is a spine tingling mini-symphony or darkness that culminates in a sparse ambient coda that almost feels like the final scene in a slasher flick- blood pumping from a corpse frozen in agony. It raised the hair on my neck for sure.
Tales are out on the road regularly now, (apparently playing in Paris tonight) and with some new material in the can, plan on a full length release in the not so distant future (my sources tell me), but we at SOA would like to make a plea for the audience and bookers here in Aarhus not to forget about this incredibly important band to our local scene – we hope to catch them in the city of smiles very soon.
Until whenever that is, you can download this track from their Bandcamp page for a few Euro as well as the rest of their catalogue if you’re feeling frisky.
