What is better than chaotic sounds and an outrage of emotions with such a boring Danish weather these days?
This is Aalborg based Kogekunst – a duo consisting of Simon Mariegaard and Oskar Sørensen – describing themselves as a drone noise-pop band. According to me the genre-wise aspect of their soundscape is utterly challenging to label. The point is; Music like Kogekunst doesn’t need labels.
Their sound is really messy, while still exploring melodic and raw energy. Breaking the borders between the sound of a band in a basement and a band performing on major stages. It’s placed in the middle of melodic and messy sounds. Between piece and war. Kogekunst is yin and yang in music.
On December 20 they released their self-titled EP ‘Kogekunst’ through their own label Koku Records including three tracks. What is more interesting is the fact that they have never performed in Aarhus, even though they have performed at both Drone (CPH) and at Copenhagen Psych Fest (CPH).
We need these guys to visit Aarhus. They are the equivalent of a musical meeting between Ghandi and Gaddafi in Aalborg. This is Kogekunst.
