Jacob Faurholt, aka. Crystal Shipss, has enriched our lives the last couple of years with really different releases from what we normally listen to. A big part of working with SOA is listening to a lot of music, it is both the most important and interesting part, and the releases from Jacob always seems to impress us with something really different, real and authentic.
A previous release made our writer Bobby McBride state the following:
“A mixture of “Feed Me With Your Kiss” era My Bloody Valentine, Syd Barrett, and…umm…I dunno, a bird trapped in a chimney – but in a good way y’know.”
And yeah, i think we all know (somehow). Anyway, Crystal Shipsss is back and yesterday released a new single – ‘Metal’. And this time, Crystal Shipsss has gone from being a solo project to being supported by Jens Christian Madsen (Tjaere+Fjer) and William Kudahl (Infants).
This song is from the forthcoming album “I Will See No Moon No Sky”, set to be released later this year, and it works as a great teaser, a great taste of this new sound. The sound is (among others) inspired by the Canadian drone-metal duo Nadja, and their guitarist, Aidan Baker, has recorded the guitar to the entire album.
Just as pleasant news is, that it comes with a really solid b-side “Tooth”! Give both tracks a really good listen and check out the old material while you are at it, Crystal Shipsss deserves it. Oh, and it can be downloaded for free if you visit the Bandcamp link below!
