For Fans Of: Reptile Youth + VETO + Spleen United
Out of the blue came five boys with musical skills. Out of nowhere they suddenly released a tour plan including both Mejlgade For Mangfoldighed, Gimle, Pumpehuset etc. Out of nowhere came Weekend Village.
The Aarhus-based electro band (formerly known as Speerhead) will be blessing the rest of the year with their free debut EP Yellow. And what’s even more impressive is that these free pieces of music are both mixed and mastered by the talented drummer in Flødeklinikken, Frederik Carstens – also the man who has been producing for Hukaos and is behind Thøger Dixgaard’s new track Former. In short these guys know what they are doing both musically and branding-wise. Well done, Weekend Village.
At first glance, their sound may remind you of something that are somewhat comparable to Reptile Youth and the likes. This is not a coincidence. As Frederik says:
“Reptile Youth is a clear source of inspiration, with their ferocity, and the way they manage to create an intense night-party atmosphere. But also with their references to electronic music, which often seek a more dark and gloomy tone. There is something ‘techno’-like over them, as we are clearly inspired by. Other sources of inspiration to be mentioned would be Spleen United, Caribou, Radiohead and the likes.”
Keep in mind; Weekend Village – Yellow EP is free of charge so remember to attend one of their future shows. Hopefully they will soon be visiting Aarhus again. Also stop by their Facebook to follow their route to the stars, they won’t disappoint you either.
