Introducing: Skalkeskjul Are The Sound of Cold Coffee and Marlboros Served With Pure Passion
Let me introduce you to Skalkeskjul. In short, it is a couple of rock’n’roll looking young guys hailing from Kolding and Vejle, playing music, drawing on bygone times. It is the 60s and 70s, cold coffee and Marlboros, all served with blood, sweat and pure passion.
They formed the band last year, but have already supported Folkeklubben, and are currently performing shows all over the country at the moment – from Aarhus to Copenhagen.
Only weeks ago, the young band unveiled their debut album ‘Motivet Ukendt’ – a 10-track explosion of Danish lyrics and Fender Telecaster riffs. Especially check out ‘Buldrer Afsted’, ‘Mindevej’, and ‘Fire Ben’ – an almost The Minds of 99-sounding track. In addition to the release of their debut album, they recently dropped their new video to ‘Mindevej’, which we simply love at the SoA office.
It is always difficult to describe a sound in words, but imagine the mix between fellow Danish acts Steppeulvene, Fribytterdrømme, De Underjordiske, Tidlige Armbånd and the vibe of Spids Nøgenhat. No matter how you would describe the sound, their new album and video are early Christmas presents. And we do not want to exchange them.
