He has been the Mayor of Aarhus since 2011 and you’ve been living underground if you haven’t seen this handsome man on television, in urban life, wearing a pirate hat at the annual university ‘Kapsejlads’ or struggling with Chili-Klaus himself. Here, it seems like we have mayor with 25 hours a day. How he can achieve all the tasks is still unknown, but somehow he always manages?! With the best office view in town, he sits at his desk every day in the center of Aarhus and keep an eye on his city.
What inspires us behind Sound Of Aarhus is, however, Jacob’s authenticity and intimacy in Aarhus. When we got through to Jacob, he immediately took the time to hear about our idea and to be part of our Inspire he only saw as an honor. Politicians are also just people, but in this case, we have a mayor where you can literally feel that after all, he is an ordinary family father who just dare to take a few chances. Whether it’s in politics or a so-called ‘vindstyrke-15 chili’ with Chili-Klaus. Let us introduce the third face and his five songs in our Inspire Series: Mayor of Aarhus, Jacob Bundsgaard!
A song for the perfect morning?
Otis Redding: Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay
Possibly the best song ever made. It really catches this feeling and life situation, that most people can imagine. That’s how it feels to grow old. This song is recorded only a few days before Otis Redding died in a plane crash.
A song for the hours of study?
Where ‘Sitting on the dock of the bay’ is melancholia, ‘Parklife’ is way more sarcastic and up-beat. Cool song, it reminds me of my great days in London!
A song for the hours of darkness?
Rufus Wainwright: Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk
This is a fantastic song. Wainwright is one of our times best singer/songwriters. I wouldn’t mind if he went back to his starting point, as on the ‘Poses’ album.
A song for the perfect weekend?
Nirvana: Smells Like Teen Spirit
Every generation has it’s angry men. This is one of my generation’s strongest voices. Uncompromising, all the way through, sadly not without any costs.
A song for the perfect Sunday evening?
Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man
An absolute classic. If there’s too much ‘Leverpostej’ in the Danish man, let him listen to some Cohen.
