One of the most blooming artists hailing from the country of beautiful beards and atmospheric soundscapes will visit Radar in September this year. More recently, they have spoiled our ears with acts like Ásgeir Trausti and Of Monsters And Men, but now it is time for them to move even closer together in the back seat of the Icelandic music-export-truck – Júníus Meyvant is here and he is ready to take over the world with his funky folk-R’n’B vibes.
Júníus Meyvant is the product of Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson; an inevitable project for fans of atmospheric singer-songwriters like Ásgeir, Tobias Jesso Jr., and maybe even Father John Misty. After his 2013 release ‘Color Decay’, which brought the Icelandic talent worldwide recognition, he has been dubbed as one of the most exciting stars of tomorrow. This has also lead to a status as one of the most played artists on DR P6 BEAT and gigs at SPOT Festival (2015), Musik I Lejet (2015), and Frost Festival (2016). Moreover, this year he will massage your ears and create a chill atmosphere at Roskilde Festival before he will visit both Jazzhouse in Copenhagen and Radar in Aarhus.
He still has not released his debut album ‘Floating Harmonies’, which is scheduled for release on July 8 via RecordRecords. This will mean, that you can experience completely new and fresh tracks when he visits Radar in September.
Check out his first release ‘Neon Experience’ from the forthcoming album via Youtube, as well as his 2015 release ‘Hailslide’ below. For some reason, this track reminds of Jackie Wilson‘s legendary ‘(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher’ in some sort of low-key, classical version – I know, maybe it is only me and my weird mind, so don’t ask why it reminds of exactly that track. Invite your loved one to a show in September, grab a fancy dinner and share a bottle of red wine before the concert, and I will guarantee you, that you won’t regret it.
