For some reason, supermarkets have decided that we’re extremely close to Christmas, and that we’ve entered winter. Though Christmas still seems far from now, the weather certainly makes it feel more and more like winter. For me, all this really started two days back on a cold, difficult Monday.
Looking for concerts in Aarhus can, most of the times, get me in a better mood, but this week seems to be low on offers. Maybe the venues just know that half the city are in bed with the flu?
Anyways, I did manage to find some things definitely worth going out for, and I hope I’ll see some of you guys out there. Leave the flu at home, though!
Yup, the guide starts out with a concert tonight. Local The DeSoto Caucus are back from touring Europe, and they’ll be performin’ at Atlas tonight. It’ll be their only gig in town, or in DK for that matter, this year, and who knows when they’ll be back. They’re currently working on their 4th album, and they’re plannin’ on taking their time.
After a Thursday evening at home, it’s once again time to experience the venues in town. This Friday holds two great places to be, so it’s all up to you and what you can afford, as these two offers are in each their end of the scale.
First up; The Sonics! This legendary band released their first album in 1965(!), and now, 50 years later, they’ve released a new album and they’re stopping by Aarhus! They’ve been an inspiration to many of the biggest punk bands since the 70’s, and their history is both long and difficult. Either way, they’re here, and they’re playing VoxHall Friday evening! From what I’ve read online, they’ve still got it.
Friday also holds the opening day of this years RECession Festival (23.-25. Oct), and what a treat that is. All music lovin’ folks in Aarhus knows about this festival, as they always manage to present some really interesting bands – and it is actually the 14th time they’re inviting all of us to come and join them! This year, the location has been moved to V58 and will take place both Friday and Saturday, where you can experience acts like De Underjordiske, Fright Eye, Mayflower Madame, Spökraket, YAST, Young Dinosaur, and German act Wulfband.
