It seems that RECession is one the few minor festivals left, who managed to stick around all these years and year after year maintain the integrity and a profile – but, at the same time, rediscovering and renewing themselves. The last two buzzwords seem important these days, but with their 15th (!) edition, RECession is going for simplicity; One night, one venue, five bands.
From what I’ve read, they’d planned to shut down all activities, but it seems it’s not only the folks at RECession who’re interested in keeping it going; support from various places made it all possible, and they’re already looking towards a bigger festival next year. This year, though, we’ll get the “small” version.
But isn’t that sort of refreshing? A “just what we needed” type of thing. I’m pretty sure it is. There are surprisingly many two-day events out there, and this RECession event seems perfect; It’s affordable, it leaves time to recover (being hung over), and it’s a more than impressive line-up. You’ll see.
We, the ticket holders, are being served with the very promising, local band Yune, who won our hearts with their first single Paranomia – just recently they released their second single, give it a listen below. We’re served with Total Heels from Copenhagen, Norwegian Undergrünnen, instrumental psychedelia from Papir, and Lucky Moon; the new project from Christian Hjelm (Figurines) and Sarah Hepburn. Oh yeah!
See ya Saturday at Radar, folks!
