Though I’ve lived in Aarhus for 6 months, I’ve only attended 5 concerts. Why? The answer is quite simple: They are so Freakin’ expensive! This Canadian frankly doesn’t have the funds to gamble 60 kr on a concert for a band he’s never heard. So, when someone mentioned that a showcase concert at Radar was only 10 kr, needless to say, I was intrigued.
Radar_HIGH, which will take place on Friday February 27th, is a musical collaboration of young people from Aarhus Statsgymnasium and Aarhus Katedralskole. Curated and organized by students from these colleges, Radar_HIGH will give young talent the chance to play on the big, legitimate, reputable stage of Radar.
Though out of high school for a few years now, back in the day I jammed in and enjoyed many of the musical talents my age group had to offer, which was a lot considering I went to a fine arts school Toronto, in the largest city of Canada. So here is my foreigner’s perspective on the high school music scene of Aarhus.
Check out the bands on the following pages. Unfortunately, there are no songs by the Balvig and the Buddha’s online. But if they’re anything like the other three bands, I’m sure their music will be a delightful surprise.
To sum up: I’m very impressed. These are obviously talented groups with bright futures ahead of them. Good music is universal, and these bands make great music. Can’t wait for Friday.
