Today, Aarhus Psych Fest has announced the first artists who are Spindrift (US) and Distortion Girls.
Fronted by Kirkpatrick Thomas, Spindrift is one of the pioneering acts in the genre described as Spaghetti Western Cinematic Psychedelia. As this implies, Spindrift is heavily inspired by old Western Films (read: Ennio Morricone), while dedicated to giving it a distinct, psychedelic twist. Mastering this genre has seen the band scoring several films and having their track ‘Indian Run’ featured in the Taratino film ‘Hell Ride’(2008).
Having featured an astonishing rotation of members through out the years (including members of the BJM and The Warlocks), Spindrift show clear footprints of an era where the classic psychedelic virtues have been given a distinct face-lift with good, solid slaps of rock’n’roll, folk and blues.
Distortion Girls is a trio based in Copenhagen whose live performance present endless static, psychedelic songs for sex, dancing and meditation performed on evil guitars, broken drum machines, massive electrical organ drones and mantric vocals. Distortion girls are dedicated to a minimalistic, lo-fi expression which is best described as The Doors fightning it out with Suicide (joined by Nico), or Young Marbel Giants with balls.
Aarhus Psych Fest takes place from October 3-4 and will feature approximately 14 acts on two stages situated at Radar and The Lunar Suite (Den Rå Hal, Godsbanen). Acts will be revealed on a regular basis until August.
A limited amount of Early Bird Discount Tickets will be available from May 15- June 15 from billetto.
