Today, Aarhus-based singer-songwriter, Kamille Lindholm, unveils her new video for ‘Bruises’, directed and produced by the art-duo Apperaat. Grab your headphones, a blanket and a cup of hot, black coffee, and take a trip to the local launderette with her. The single ‘Bruises’ will be part of her forthcoming album ‘Twice in August’ out November 2.
According to Kamille, her lyrics are not to be read and understood as a separate part of her songs. Instead, they should be regarded as part of the full atmosphere created by her music. Keep that in mind, when pressing play on her new ‘Bruises’ video below.
In this new video, she combines light with the darkness; Day with night. It features two different actions or stories – so to speak. In half the video, she walks around in the cemetery at Trøjborg like an insomniac person, while the colors fade. The other half she spends doing her laundry at the local launderette – or at least waiting for the machine to finish doing its thing.
To be honest, I do not really know how to explain the deeper meaning of the video. Therefore, I will leave analysis and interpretation to the individual viewer, as I am sure, every individual will experience different feelings and thoughts arising from the simplistic and shadowy nature of the video. What I do know, however, is that it is really refreshing to see an artist use her local Aarhus surroundings as the scenery in her music video.
On November 2, Kamille Lindholm will unveil her new album, live at UngK Ungdomskirken at 20:00. We are talking free entrance. Here, you can also experience a talk by Apperaat, the art duo behind Kamille’s new video.
